Social Networking... for Dogs?
As an owner of two dogs that are practically my children, I frequently ask myself throughout the day, ' What are they doing right now?' When I return home, the first thing I ask them is, ‘What did you do today?’
Too bad my dogs can't type and aren't on Facebook.
We put a man on the moon, have socially networked stuffed animals and of course the iPhone but now we can finally unlock the mystery of what our dogs are doing while we are away.
SNIF Labs has created a tag with advanced motion-sensitive technology that records all of your pet's activities indoors and out and displays the information through a simple, clear interface online. A group of MIT Media Laboratory graduate students came up with the concept at a dog park while watching dogs interact. The device can mointor when your dog, barks, growls, eats and plays among other activites.
The device can also act as a social networking tool for humans. Once home from a walk with your pet log-in to the online interface and check out what dogs you came in contact with and meet their owners online.
